平和を考えた時に想い返す「当たり前」という尊さ
普段の日常生活では、日々の作業に追われて、当たり前に過ごしている空間について、深く考えることがないでしょう。当たり前なので、絶対に必要だけれど、当然に存在している前提として、特に話題にならないのでしょう。しかし、突然の大震災や大事故により、「当たり前」が「当たり前」ではなくなり、それを獲得するために「当たり前」を意識した途端に、ヒトはその「当たり前」を欲するようになるのです。
三種の神器とは
昭和時代の三種の神器とは、洗濯機、冷蔵庫、掃除機の３つでした。そもそも三種の神器とは、天皇の正当性を裏付ける神物であり、八尺瓊勾玉(やさかにのまがたま)、八咫鏡(やたのかがみ)、草薙の剣(くさなぎのつるぎ)の三種を指します。それらの神器は、天皇を含めてこの世では誰も見たことがないそうです。三種の神器は、レプリカが存在するともいわれていますが、いまのところ実物は見て確認できません。ともなると、そもそも三種の神器は、存在そのものが手に取って見ることができないモノとして捉えても不思議ではありません。
モノがありふれる現代社会において、令和時代の三種の神器は何かを考えると、それらは実物でなくても良いのかもしれません。目で見て、実際に触って存在を確認しなくても、その存在については五感を通して感じられ、十分に価値があると認知すれば、神器として認められても良いのではないでしょうか。そう考えると、令和時代における神器は、実は目に見えないけれど、とても価値があり、誰もが欲しいと思う「何か」でしょう。
大事なものこそ見えない価値
私の考える個人にとっての令和時代の三種の神器は、「水」、「空気」、「休息（睡眠）」です。地球では、きれいな水と空気があれば、生き物が住めます。逆に、当たり前のように消費している水も空気も失った途端に、ヒトも動物も生きてはいけないのです。より良い水や空気がある環境で生活することが、これからの時代は高い価値を持つでしょう。また、休息（睡眠）できるというのも水と空気と同様に価値をもたらすでしょう。
サバンナに住む草食動物は一日に数時間しか寝られません。いつ何時襲われるかわからないストレスを抱えて生活しているので、睡眠中も横になって熟睡はできないため、野生の草食動物はペットと比べると比較的睡眠時間が短く、寿命も短いのです。
当たり前が当たり前であるために
新年度が始まるにあたり、一旦立ち止まって、当たり前の存在について意識を向けてみましょう。当たり前にいつもの毎日を送ることが、いかに尊いのか。平和な時空が存在することが、極めて価値がある。そんな「当たり前」に気づくことから、新年度をスタートしてみませんか。

The preciousness of " taken for granted" that we recall when we think about peace.
In our normal daily lives, we are so busy with our daily tasks that we probably do not think deeply about the space we take for granted. Because they are so commonplace, they are not talked about as a matter of course, even though they are absolutely necessary. However, the sudden occurrence of a major earthquake or a serious accident can make "normal" no longer "normal," and as soon as people become aware of "normal" in order to acquire it, they begin to desire that "normal.
What are the Three Sacred Treasures?
The three sacred treasures of the Showa period were a washing machine, a refrigerator, and a vacuum cleaner. To begin with, the three sacred artifacts are divine objects that vindicate the legitimacy of the emperor: the Yasakani no Magatama(crescent jewel), the Yatakagami (three-legged mirror), and the Kusanagi no Tsurugi (sword of Kusanagi). These sacred objects have never been seen by anyone on earth, including the emperor. It is said that replicas of the three sacred objects exist, but so far no one has been able to confirm this by seeing the actual objects. Therefore, it is not surprising that the three sacred artifacts are regarded as objects that cannot be held in one's hand.
In today's society, with its abundance of things, when one considers what the three sacred treasures of the REIWA era were, they may not have to be actual objects. Even if we do not see them with our eyes or touch them to confirm their existence, if we can feel their existence through our five senses and recognize that they have sufficient value, they may be recognized as sacred objects. In this light, the sacred artifact in the REIWA era would actually be "something" that is invisible but very valuable and that everyone would want to have.
The most important thing is the value of the invisible
In my opinion, the three sacred treasures of the REIWA era for individuals are "water," "air," and "rest (sleep)”. On earth, clean water and air are enough for living creatures to live. Conversely, as soon as we lose both water and air, which we consume as a matter of course, neither humans nor animals can survive. Living in an environment with clean water and air will be of high value in the future. Being able to rest (sleep) will also bring value, as will water and air.
Herbivores living on the savanna sleep only a few hours a day. Because they live under the stress of not knowing when they will be attacked, they cannot lie down for a good night's sleep, so herbivores in the wild sleep relatively little and have a shorter life span than pets.
For the commonplace to be taken for granted
As the new school year begins, let us pause and become aware of the existence of the commonplace. How precious it is to live our usual everyday life as a matter of course. The existence of a peaceful time and space is extremely valuable. Why not start the new year by becoming aware of such "taken-for-grantedness"?
